PRAY I Prayer Teams Application

Intercessory prayer is praying to God on behalf of another. Jesus is our great intercessor, we only have the ability to intercede because of Him and we join Him in this ministry.

By "baptized" we are referring to a believer's baptism (you were able to verbally articulate your salvation by grace through faith in Christ Jesus) through immersion in water (body fully dipped into the water and brought out again).

Team Selection

Please read through each team's description, requirements. 

IN PERSON PRAYING WITH OTHERS
If you apply for any of these teams, the next step is a one on one chat (phone call or virtual meeting). This chat will include a deeper dive into the following commitments: I will spend time alone with the Lord daily, I will practice living a lifestyle of worship and thankfulness, and I have a close Christian community around me that I am joyfully accountable to. 
  • Gathering Prayer Team 
    • Overview: This team intercedes by praying with people on Sundays in the post-sermon response time. Gifting, character, communication skills and experience are all considered for this team. 
    • Requirements: Be available to pray 2 Sundays a month. 
  • Lobby Prayer Team 
    • Overview: This team is in the lobbies praying for people before and after a gathering. They wear a prayer lanyard so that people can approach them for prayer, but also proactively engage people with a warm welcome, conversation, and an offer of prayer as prompted by the Holy Spirit. 
    • Requirements: Be available to pray 2 Sundays a month. 
  • Sunday Intercessory Prayer
    • Overview: We share a time of intercessory prayer during the first gathering from 9:20 - 10:10am. Pray for the body of Centre Church and everyone serving, for many in the city to be drawn by the Lord, and for all to have encounter with Jesus. 
    • Requirements: Attend the meeting 2 Sundays a month. 
  • Wednesday Morning Prayer Team 
    • Wednesday Morning Prayer is intended for people that are, or are intending to become, members of the church (to encourage privacy and trust). It is a place to receive prayer requests from the church body which are taken in and compiled by staff, and pray for them weekly (either in person through the zoom meetup on Wednesday morning, or on your own schedule). 
  • Alpha Prayer Team 
    • Overview: This team prays for everyone in the Alpha Course. Gifting and character are primary considerations for this team, as there will be many interactions with both guests and team members. 
    • Requirements: Be available to attend the prayer meetings on the "Alpha Course" dates. (mostly at Centre Church, dates will be provided before team activation. This is generally about an 11 week commitment, with extended prayer opportunities at the Alpha "Retreat") 

PRAYER ON YOUR OWN 
If you apply for any of these teams, the next step is a one on one chat (phone call or virtual meeting) to give you more information and discern participation together. In general, this is a one day a week commitment for a semster period (a semester is up to 6 months, depending on the team) where you set aside some extra time pray and fast or abstain from something while going about your regular day.
  • Care - This team intercedes for everyone in the Care Ministry, which provides help and resources that are biblically faithful and practical for addressing issues in everyday life. 
  • ILM (International Language Ministry) - This team intercedes for everyone in the ILM ministry, as well as the gatherings and events. 
  • Justice & Mercy - This team intercedes for everyone in the Justice & Mercy ministry, and for true justice and mercy to participated in by everyone in Centre Church and the Church in Vancouver. 
  • Kids, Youth & Family - This team intercedes for everyone in the Kids, Youth & Family Ministries, and for families to be protected and growing in the knowledge of the Lord in Centre Church and the Church in Vancouver. 
  • Rentals & Building - This team intercedes for everyone involved with rentals at The Centre, including the building care and function, and for unity and favour in the church rentals and buildings across Vancouver. 
  • Worship - This team intercedes for everyone in the Worship Ministry, and for true worship to break out in the hearts of everyone in Centre Church and the Church in Vancouver. 
  • Harvest - We are here to lift up the harvest and to pray for the existing labourers and for more labourers to be inspired to action by the Spirit. The weight of the God given responsibility of sowing and reaping in this local context is too heavy for anyone to carry alone. We need co-heirs and co-labourers to help us in lifting each other up in prayer daily as many are called to love and share the gospel in the public spheres of our city.

In general, it possible to serve on one "Praying with others" team, and one "Prayer on your own" team. If more than one team in each of these categories seems appealing to you, highlight both and we'll discuss and discern together when we meet.

Your Prayer Expression

Example: I am passionate about justice and mercy. I often ask God to help the brokenhearted that scripture says He is near to, to bind them up with His love. Also, that justice would be served. That God would rise to the defence of the oppressed, as scripture says He does. This leaks out into my activities to serve the pour, care and pray for those in need, and always have something ready to give to the poor.
